Long Tape hair Extensions

What are Long Tape Extensions?

Long Tape Hair Extensions are similar to Tape Ins or Invisible Tape In Hair Extensions.
Instead of having a number of small tapes of hair, it is one long tape hair extension that will be custom fitted to the shape and size of your head.
This is a quick and easy solution that sits flat up against your scalp and is very comfortable to wear. Once it grows out it will not move much although every 6-8 weeks you will have to get it maintained due to natural loose hair that falls out of your head, it will have to be brushed out to avoid any tangling or dreading.
Once the Long tape hair extensions are removed, the tape hair extensions are then washed and the old tape is discarded. New tape will be applied to the hair extensions and refitted after shampoo and blowout to your natural hair. We always recommend getting a light trim in between hair extensions appointments to ensure your natural hair stays healthy and grows while wearing any hair extensions.

Is this method of hair extensions versatile?

The Long Tape hair extensions are best suited for women that prefer to wear their hair down most of the time. As with any hair extensions, wearing your hair in a low ponytail is prefered or in loose braids.
since the Long Tape sits across your scalp and is very close to the scalp, it won't be possible to wear your hair in a high ponytail or parted in the middle.
This method is ideal for clients that prefer to spend the least amount of time in the salon although still want a system of hair extensions that will last them 6-8 weeks at a time and add length & volume to their hair.

for fine hair, you will need 50-100 grams and for thicker hair, you might need more hair to achieve a natural look. Although that also depends on the size of the scalp.

Home care for Tape in hair extensions

1) How do I wash my Long Tape extensions?

A clean, sulfate-free shampoo that won't leave a residue on your hair is vital.

We recommend using the Authentic Beauty Concept line as their products are all vegan and cruelty-free! not to mention very clean and will not leave a residue on your own hair.

2) Can I sleep with wet hair?

Sleeping with wet hair in general is never a good idea. when hair is wet it can be easily damaged and tangled. we recommend drying your hair first with a microfibre towel, removing the excess moisture first then using a blowdryer on either cool or low heat to make sure the tape part is completely dry. This will ensure a long-lasting bond and will prevent damage to your own hair.

3) Can I shampoo my hair in the sink?

The best way to shampoo your Long Tape hair extensions is in the shower while your hair is falling naturally. Shampooing upright will cause the tape to loosen up or come undone. This is an important step to remember while wearing long tape extensions. Always pinch the tape part together after shampooing and after blow drying to ensure a tight bond once again. this will lengthen your wearing time between maintenance.

4) Which styling products are recommended with the long tape hair extensions?

Any products that are alcohol-free and as clean as possible. We do recommend the Authentic Beauty Concepts collection they are certified vegan, clean, cruelty-free, and free of microplastics, mineral oils, parabens, and artificial colorants.

5) Sleeping with hair extensions

To avoid getting your hair tangled and causing damage while sleeping, we recommend brushing your hair extensions with a natural boar bristle brush all the way down to the roots (part your hair in sections if it's thick and hard to get to the scalp) therefore removing the loose hair that we lose naturally every day (100-150 hairs a day ). When wearing hair extensions it is much harder for that loose hair to fall since it can get stuck in the tape or bond (whichever hair extensions you are wearing). When brushing with a boar bristle or a soft bristle brush, you are helping that hair fall out naturally, therefore, preventing any dreading or knotting, in short preventing damage to your own hair. Please brush carefully. You can use a Wet brush or any brush that has soft flexible bristles to detangle the hair before using the boar bristle brush. We recommend having 2 types of brushes, a Wet brush with soft lasting bristles ( make sure the plastic bristles do not have a ball on the tip) and a Boar bristle or a soft hair-like bristles brush.

Braiding your hair. in 2 loose braids is found to be the most comfortable to sleep in and prevent the hair from tangling while sleeping.

Avoid pulling your hair up in a high ponytail at all times, even when sleeping.

This will change the natural direction of the tape and will pull the tape out easier and could cause damage to your hair.

If you prefer to wear your hair in a ponytail, we recommend using a soft scrunchy that is not too tight.

6) Working out with hair extensions

If you work out and have to pull your hair back, please pay attention to always wearing your hair in a low ponytail or braids and not putting too much tension on your scalp.

A most important detail to remember with Long Tape extensions is to never get any oils or thick conditioner on the roots as that will cause the tape to loosen up and create build-up between your natural hair and the long tape extensions.
